President's Message
Hola FCHCC Members and Supporters:
Whew!! What a busy month September was! As the kids went back to school, we also resumed our activities with our strategic partner, Winn-Dixie Stores, where they discussed the importance of supplier diversity at a Business Luncheon and reviewed the process for becoming a supplier at our last educational workshop for the year. We also had a great time celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the Jacksonville Armada Soccer game and attended an event as special guests of our member, New York Life. This month, the Achieving the Dream Scholarship Awards and Hispanic Heritage Celebration is fast approaching on October 16, 2015. Be sure to get your table or tickets now. We will be honoring 16 amazing students who are the future of the Hispanic community while celebrating the Hispanic culture that is so rich and diverse. | Eco Latino Media Group will bring the 8th Annual Hispanic Art Walk
Jacksonville's Hispanic Art Walk will take place Saturday, October 24th at the Jacksonville Landing from 4 PM to Midnight. Admission is free of charge. Since its inaugural year, the Hispanic Arts Festival has had differently nuanced performances, from traditional folk dances to more contemporary shows from a myriad of Spanish speaking countries. In its third year, the festival was no longer a colorful addition to the city's Art Walk but an Art Walk of its own and it kept on growing in numbers, ever since. In 2012 and according to Downtown Vision, the Art Walk had nearly 8,000 visitors, and that changed the game by requiring a bigger location for 2013, 2014 and 2015. "We decided to organize the festival at The Jacksonville Landing for the last two years and 2015, because there is capacity to well accommodate up to 10,000 people. Now we can continue the Hispanic Art Walk for eight hours of uninterrupted music, art, and entertainment for the whole family", said Eco Latino Manager Francisco Sefair. Not-for-profit dancing companies from Spain, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and other countries will take the stage at the Landing on Saturday October 24th to share the Latin soul while enticing everyone dance to the music.
