PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Cesar Grijota_ President and CEO
Dear FCHCC Members and Friends:

As we embark on this new year filled with opportunities, challenges and uncertainties we must remind ourselves of what makes us strong as a people - Unity. Unity is directly responsible for all that we can accomplish. It is through the unified efforts of our membership, board and volunteers that we will make it all possible.

Equally important is that we navigate through 2017 with the mindset that simply establishing a relationship is just not good enough. Like all things in life, relationships need to be nurtured and cultivated in order for them to grow. The goal is to establish fruitful lifelong relationships; the way to accomplish this is through our Unity, and the place where this can all happen is the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I am proud to serve as your President and CEO for 2017.

This is a great time to join us! If you have not renewed your FCHCC membership or want to join, click here for more information.

Warmest regards,
Cesar Grijota
FCHCC President and CEO

Planning Organization (North Florida TPO)

North Florida Transportation Planning Organization
The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (North Florida TPO)
is the independent regional transportation planning agency created by federal law for Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties. The agency leads our region's efforts in planning, funding and mobilizing resources to develop and maintain our transportation system.

Plans and programs include: the regional long range transportation plan updated every five years, five-year transportation Improvement Program updated annually, annual traffic count and mobility reports, coalitions for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and clean fuels, bicycle and pedestrian studies; freight mobility, cool to pool commuter services car and vanpool program, public private partnerships, and global trade and transportation.

The TPO is governed by a 15-member board of elected officials and transportation agency representatives. They rely on advice and recommendations from several committees, each having a unique perspective and area of expertise: Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) is comprised of primarily planners and engineers representing various local governments within the TPO boundary who evaluate the technical sufficiency, accuracy and viability of proposed plans;  the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is a volunteer body of residents and business people who review transportation plans from a community perspective, and the Duval County Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board (TD Board)  provides oversight of the community transportation coordinator and transportation services for the transportation disadvantaged. Broad public involvement is a key part of the transportation planning process.

The North Florida TPO seeks citizen input and provides information through our website, public workshops, newsletters and presentations to community, business and civic groups. The TPO works closely with the Florida Department of Transportation, JTA, the port authorities in Duval and Nassau Counties, the airport and aviation authorities in St. Johns and Duval Counties and elected officials in the four-county area.

The North Florida TPO has been a member of the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the past decade. Marci Larson, Public Affairs Manager, attends meetings and the annual scholarship luncheon of which the TPO has provided sponsor support. The nine-member TPO staff has a very broad and extended range of transportation experience. Executive Director, Jeff Sheffield has been with the TPO 25 years serving as executive director since 2009.
