President's Message
What a wonderful month of September we had! The Hispanic Heritage Gala and Achieving the Dream Scholarship Awards was a huge success. Thanks to our valued sponsors and all of you who attended, we had an amazing night going back to Old Havana while raising funds for the scholarship program. We also recognized thirteen (13) amazing students who each earned scholarships.
We are so excited to have our October Professional Networking Event at Gabriel House of Care. I toured this amazing facility and can see why it was so dear to Jorge Bacardi from The Bacardi Family and their other benefactors. We will have live music, great food from Ocean 60 and many networking opportunities. Be sure to register as I look forward to seeing everyone there.
Please remember to register to VOTE by October 11th and exercise your right to vote on November 8th. Our community must unite and find its voice. The power is in our vote... YOU have the POWER to decide the future of our country!
If you have not renewed your FCHCC membership or want to join, click here for more information.
Warmest regards,
Maribel Hernandez

Member Spotlight: Joe Spivey, TruTechnology
Joe Spivey is a new member of the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He joined the chamber in August 2016. Joe graduated with his MBA in 2008 from the University of North Florida. He has a passion for community involvement, and regularly volunteering with non-profit organizations. When away from work he enjoys watching football (Jaguars of course!), and spending time with his wife, Amanda, and 5-year old son, Cason.
Joe Spivey has been the Director of Business Relations with TruTechnology, a leading Managed IT Services Company headquartered here in Jacksonville for over 2 years. As the Director of Business Relations, Joe was responsible for connecting with and sharing TruTechnology's critical message with as many Jacksonville business leaders as possible. Joe was recently promoted to VP of Sales in September 2016. Due to the success and growth of the company over the last 2 years, having added nearly 1 client per month in that timeframe, the company has expanded in all departments. Now as the VP of Sales, Joe manages a team of passionate people and continues to work diligently to further the mission of the organization.
TruTechnology specializes in leveraging the insights and experience of their collective knowledge and serving their clients. TruTechnology's methodology takes a holistic view of IT management that drives business objectives forward. They are not content with solely being reactive tech support, or even merely heading off major problems. TruTech, of course, covers the basics that any IT provider must have - reactive support, monitoring of key infrastructure and project implementation capabilities - but they take it much further. Their approach creates a partnership that is mutually beneficial.
When they succeed, their clients thrive. The entire team shares this common perspective and works in tandem to achieve this result. If you are passionate about your organization and strive for continuous improvement and efficiency, they would be excited to speak with you, especially if you are "fine" with your current state of IT.
