										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>FCHCC&#8217;s 2022 Induction took place February 22nd at the River Club. The new Board of Directors were inducted. Members were also recognized for their 2021 outstanding work, <strong>Raul Arias of Mambo&#8217;s Cuban Cafe</strong> among them.</p>



<p>The Induction ceremony was original slated for January 2022, but because of the rise in COVID cases, the chamber rescheduled the ceremony for February. </p>



<p>The Chamber thanked its new Board of Directors: <strong>Wilfredo Gonzalez</strong>, Chair of the Board, <strong>Sandy Martin</strong>, Vice Chair, <strong>Eric Garcia</strong>, Treasurer, <strong>Michelle Kaplafka</strong>, Secretary and Directors-at-large: <strong>Nelson Hernandez, Belkis Plata, Michael Boatman</strong> and <strong>Beatrice Chandler</strong>. Also, thanked for their outstanding work during their tenures were the Board of Directors who stepped down: <strong>Valeria Gonzalez-Kerr</strong>, Secretary and <strong>Raul Arias</strong>, Director-at-Large.</p>

<p><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla.</strong>&nbsp;– Alfred I. duPont Middle School unveiled on Tuesday a mural showcasing Hispanic heritage, painted by a Jacksonville-area artist.</p>



<p>The message: To make all students feel accepted.</p>



<p>“It meant so much to me. I wanted to make it as beautiful as possible,” said artist Whitney Esther Perez.</p>



<p>Perez said the Duval County School District asked her to submit a concept sketch and then she was chosen to take on the project. She said she put her heart and soul into the painting.</p>



<p>The mural was unveiled at an event hosted by the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, Alfred I. duPont Middle School, First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and the Art in Public Places Program.</p>
