FCHCC and Voces Hispanas created a travel museum quality exhibit honoring Hispanic leaders of NE Florida who have made significant contributions to the Hispanic community over the past several decades. This exhibit brings the vision of Voces Hispanas Founder, Dr. Rebecca Dominguez-Karimi to life.

WHAT: Voces Hispanas “New Stories to Tell” inaugurates a landmark research initiative for the five counties in Northeast Florida by gathering the testimonies of Hispanics and their historical, cultural and economic contributions spanning the last 100 years.

The Voces: New Stories to Tell collection seeks to expand the scope of Hispanics represented. The goal is to interview at least 100 more Hispanics from the greater five county areas. All Hispanic communities in Northeast Florida are invited to participate, from long term Minorcans or Floridanos to newcomers to hear the stories about how Hispanics arrived here in Northeast Florida.

This event was held at UNF’s Adam W. Herbert University Center from 8 AM – 5 PM which included breakfast and lunch. The workshop included two panel discussions and two breakout sessions. A total of four classes were conducted with two of them held in the morning and two more in the afternoon session. All the classes were in Spanish and the attendees could choose which classes they wanted to attend.

FCHCC is thankful to all who participated in this event and for everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this 1st of its kind workshop successful.

A couple other facts about FCHCC’s results and growth since 2019:

• Membership has grown 137%
• The chamber has hosted approximately 47 events including webinars, in-person events as well as signature events: Excellence in Business Awards and the Hispanic Heritage Gala & ATD Awards
