Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under general supervision of the Manager of Procurement Services, the Storeroom Clerk plans, conducts and maintains accurate inventories of crane and vehicle parts as well as facilities and operations supplies and materials.
  • Tracks inventory to determine demand and maintains adequate inventory levels for all storerooms in support of terminal operations.
  • Solicits informal quotes for supplies and materials required to support terminal operations in accordance with JAXPORT SOP 1215 - Procurement Code. Prepares single source paperwork as needed.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions based on quote results or formally competed contracts in Maximo, JAXPORT’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, in compliance with procurement procedures.
  • Posts all stock receipts, issues and corrections in Maximo.  Ensures proper procedures are followed and appropriate paperwork is completed and submitted.
  • Confers with internal customers and suppliers to obtain or provide information or to resolve inventory, purchase requisition, purchase order and/or invoices issues. Researches discrepancies on orders and/or invoices (e.g. overages, shortages, duplicate deliveries, etc.) and corrects errors by returning damaged items to suppliers and obtaining credit memos.
  • Receives all incoming packages and freight such as Fedex and UPS and delivers or coordinates delivery to the appropriate office.
  • Completes the monthly reconciliation of Maximo inventory.
  • Participates in annual physical inventory as directed.
  • Conducts cycle counts in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Assists in determining ABC classification of inventory parts.
  • Maintains storeroom in a clean, neat, and organized condition.
  • Assists in identifying obsolete and excessive inventory and supplies and then disposes of obsolete and excessive inventory as per JAXPORT’s policies and procedures.
  • Shuttles parts and supplies between terminals and suppliers as needed.
  • Serves as backup for Storeroom Clerk at his/her sister terminal and Office Services/Storeroom Clerk at PCOB as directed. Back up driver for terminal bus tours as needed.
Skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • Minimum of one to three years’ experience in inventory and/or purchasing operations required.
  • Forklift experience required.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of governmental procurement and inventory practices and rules preferred.
  • Knowledge of port operations and/or equipment preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Strong problem solving and basic mathematical skills.
  • Multi-tasking skills and the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficiency and understanding of relevant logistics and inventory systems and software applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Highly accountable, responsive and proactive customer service attitude and performance with both internal and external customers.

Travel:   Frequent travel between JAXPORT locations and local area as required.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver license is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • Class B Florida CDL with passenger endorsement is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) during employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasionally remain in a stationary position.
  • Constantly move, traverse inside office or on JAXPORT property to accomplish job duties.
  • Constantly operate, use or handle equipment, tools, computers and other office machinery.
  • Rarely/Never ascend, descend, work atop, traverse on ladders, equipment and buildings to perform maintenance and safety functions.  Heights up to 200 feet.
  • Occasionally position self to move, to maintain or repair equipment on terminal or in office.
  • Constantly detect, determine, identify, recognize, observe, inspect to read and use computers.
  • Constantly detect, converse with, convey, exchange information with others via radio, telephone.  Ability to listen to equipment to troubleshoot
  • Continuously move, transport and position, material up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 75 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work to include local transport for bus tours and travel between job sites.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.
