The First Coast Hispanic Chamber, in partnership with UNF Coggin College of Business and Prudential, launched an on-campus Hispanic Student Business Society on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the University of North Florida. The UNF Student Society is comprised of Hispanic UNF students who will work to engage more Hispanic students to the FCHCC and provide an environment to network as they transition through college into the workforce.
Dorothy Sperry, Financial Services manager at Prudential, kicked off the event presenting current Prudential career opportunities for graduating seniors. Professor Gallo, the advisor of the student Business Society, discussed the importance of relationship building in business and career success. Jose Barrientos, the student president of the society spoke about his involvement with FCHCC and the vision for the Student Business Society, which included a possible mentoring program with the Young Professionals group. Laura Zablah, a member of the FCHCC Board of Directors, concluded the evening by discussing on the various committees and organizations that comprise the FCHCC.
