Position title
Senior Small Business Consulting Coordinator - UNF Coggin College of Business
Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Coordinate the implementation and administration of departmental processes and/or programs.
  • Provide professional level departmental support.
  • Work collaboratively with university staff to ensure program’s success.
  • May interpret departmental policies for area of responsibility.
  • During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.
  • Area of responsibility is the UNF SBDC’s micro enterprise assistance programs.
  • Responsible for administering the program and its budget in compliance with FSBDC, City of Jacksonville, UNF and other applicable funding source guidelines, ensuring that all deliverables are met in a timely manner.
  • Report the activities of the micro enterprise programs as proscribed by grantors and will assist in developing and implementing procedures for the programs.
  • Provide direct client services including group training, individual counsel, and public appearances. Assist in generating additional grant dollars to expand micro enterprise services in the UNF service area.
  • Supervise assigned OPS Consultants, student assistants, and/or training assistants.
  • Responsibilities will also include reviewing solicitations and proposal documents, making recommendations, and providing support for Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) / SB Technology Transfer (STTR) initiatives.
  • Offer training and awareness sessions on cybersecurity, risks associated with foreign ownership, control and influence, as well as intellectual and property protection.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned.

Marginal Functions:

  • Completion of all data entry and reporting in the management information system and achievement of annual work plan deliverables as required by subcontract with the Florida SBDC Network. Compliance with all rules governing subcontracts and agreements as required by UNF.
Qualifications

This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 8 years of direct experience.

Other Information:
  • Experience should include 2 years or more in government contracting, business ownership and/or significant management experience, management consulting and teaching/training.
  • Varied business management expertise should include business planning, financial analysis, access to capital, marketing, cash-flow management, business startup and human resource management, and government contracting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficient skills in determining suitability for government contracting, possessing a thorough understanding of the language and basics of local, state and federal contracting.
  • Adept at securing necessary federal, state, and local government registrations, as well as providing assistance in applying for various small business programs, including agency-certified programs such as SDVOSB, 8(a), and HUBZone, as well as self-certifying programs like SDB, EDWOSB, and MBE.
  • Ability to excel in connecting with government buyers and prime contractors, identifying proposal and bid opportunities, and developing customized profiles on automated bid match services.

Required Licensure or Certification

  • Achieve required professional development credits to maintain professional certification.

The APEX Accelerator Coordinator, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, coordinates the implementation and administration of the formally named Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) program, now known as APEX Accelerator (APEX). Provides professional level departmental support, with assistance from the Florida PTAC Director, now known as the Florida APEX Accelerator Director.
