(March 28, 2019 – JACKSONVILLE, FL.) The First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has extended the application deadline for students until April 1, 2019. The Achieving the Dream (ATD) Scholarship Program is available for students with Hispanic origin who want to pursue their college degrees. Over 26 years, the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FCHCC) Community Development, Inc. has awarded scholarships to high school seniors and undergrad students of Hispanic origin living in Northeast Florida including Duval, Baker, St. Johns, Clay and Nassau counties.
Students can now apply for the 2019 ATD Scholarships. In 2018, FCHCC awarded 10 scholarships to admirable Hispanic students at the annual Hispanic Heritage Gala and ATD Awards, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and the Achieving the Dream scholarships award recipients.
The 2019 Achieving the Dream Scholarships awards will be distributed at the Annual Hispanic Heritage Gala to be held in the Fall. Applications can be completed at: fchcc.com/scholarship, and must be submitted by April 1, 2019, along with all required documents.
The scholarship program awards students who work hard and achieve academic excellence to start or continue their education. FCHCC Community Development Fund awards these scholarships based on primary criteria and academics (minimum GPA 20%). The remaining points are assessed based on a finalist interview, letters of recommendation, essays, extracurricular activities, community involvement and honors/awards.
Contributions to the scholarship fund can also be made online. Previous years’ sponsors include: Brunet-Garcia Advertising, Florida Blue, Jacksonville Jaguars, Jimenez-Bellisario Family, Virginia College and Vystar Credit Union.
